Phoenix, AZ 3/15/19 – The Arizona Muslim Alliance today stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in New Zealand. We pray for the victims, we pray for their loved ones, and we pray for the safety of all our brothers and sisters.
“Words cannot fully express our anger and sorrow over this heinous attack. It is incumbent upon our elected officials to stop the spewing of anti-Muslim rhetoric at a national, state, and local level. We must come together to condemn all forms of hate and violence. As the details of the story continues to develop, we are asking all of our local community members to be vigilant.” In a statement from Kristy Sabbah, Chairperson for the Arizona Muslim Alliance.
We cannot be complacent. We urge all our local mosques to take the following steps:
- Contact your local law enforcement and ask for increased patrols.
- Notify your Mosque leadership and have them raise awareness and to be on the lookout for any suspicious behavior.
- We must have a couple of volunteers to just greet people outside the masjid.
- The community should not panic. Friday Jummah is a day of worship. We should encourage our congregation to show up to Jummah prayers.
Arizona Muslim Alliance (AMA) is a single platform bringing the entire Arizona Muslim community together for a unified voice and action for better serving our community as well as all Arizonians.
